Have Dine a Chook products been tested?

The Dine a Chook No Waste Chicken Feeder was originally designed as a response to my own dismay at the amount of mess and wasted feed that resulted from the poorly-made chicken feeder in my chicken coop. I was so frustrated that I was considering giving away my chickens, when my father, a retired mechanical engineer, came to the rescue with the first prototype of the Dine a Chook Feeder.

After months of testing and improvements, we had designed a chicken feeder that was weather-proof, cost effective and that prevented the mess normally associated with chickens. It was so good that I had to share it with other backyard chicken keepers and so Dine a Chook was born.

Our Chicken Feeders and Drinkers have been extensively tested for performance and durability in the harsh conditions of tropical North Queensland and in the Australian outback.

How does Dine a Chook save me money?

The array of sleek, colourful chicken feeders and drinkers available in your local feed store seem to promise a solution for every chicken coop.

But experienced chicken keepers know that none of these cheap feeders or drinkers is built to last. They will fail in 2-3 years, costing you money in the long run. Dine a Chook Chicken Feeders and Chicken Drinkers, on the other hand, are made from the highest quality materials and have a working life even longer than galvanized steel.

Additionally, common chicken feeders like hanging feeders, troughs and treadle feeders, have some major flaws that cost you money. They are not water-tight or weatherproof, and nor do they do anything to reduce the wasted feed caused by raking and thrashing. Only the treadle feeders claim to be “rat-proof” but hundreds of customers have told me about rats ganging up in order to activate the mechanism and open the lid.

Dine a Chook Chicken Feeders are different from the competition because they are designed to save you money. They are waterproof, and by helping to prevent raking and thrashing, they stop you from wasting money on chicken feed that is spilled on the ground or goes to rodents instead of egg-layers. Our Chicken Feeders saved us so much money on feed that they paid for themselves in no time!
