keeps food DRY ! Genius

I’ve been using these 2 feeders for about 10 days now and they are working really well. They are standing up against the wild winds and rain of west Clare brilliantly keeping the food completely dry (which was the main reason I tried them) and as I mounted them to the coop means they are off the ground and don’t fall over & spill. So no waste either. The chickens are using them fine and the local crows haven’t figured them out yet ! They are very easy to fill and clean too.
The screw-on lid is, as another reviewer described, more of a bayonet style so you do have to be careful not the twist the full feeder if carrying or lifting.
I will definitely be getting a couple more as my flock increases and I will probably try the nipple water drinkers too.

A nice product , easy to install and the chooks were straight in there for a feed. Only one thing , the top screw down lid isnt a 'Screw' down , it's more like a Bayonet type fitting , i found it twisted loose and came off whilst carrying after filling. Also , I couldn't find any info in the instructions about the adjustable screw in base and how to use that.
All in all a very good purchase and nice product.

Hi there,I purchased 2 feeders in January just to give it a try.I got my money back already with no mess, not a rat in sight!! I got more hens so I bought 2 more feeders, best decision I ever made.I don't have to buy so much feed anymore ,not even the birds can feed from them ,Great!!
What a difference!

I wish I'd had these feeders when I started keeping hens about 30 years ago. There really is no waste and the hens took to them straight away. The plastic is sturdy and the container very much easy to fill.
I did remove the base to see how easy it would be for cleaning and found it a bit fiddly to fit back in, but after a few tries the base suddenly just slotted back ready for screwing back into place (no, no screws, just the action of the base), so I expect there is a knack to it.
We haven't had any really driving rain since I bought the feeders but I'm optimistic that this won't be a problem. As there is absolutely no waste and the hens just eat up, it means that food doesn't get left over and get damp and potientially grungy. I know there must be rats round and about but so far, in the weeks I've had these feeders, I've not seen any evidence (which I would have done with my old feeders).
I also bought one Dine-a-Chook drinker with two water cups and this is equally brilliant, keeping much cleaner than the old-fashioned plastic or aluminium drinkers. I already had a nipple drinker (not Dine-a-Chook) which the hens like, but not as much as the Dine-a-Chook one which is excellent - easy to fill and easy to keep the little drinking cups clean. Because it is made of a more robust and thicker plastic than the nipple drinker it doesn't let in the light and therefore doesn't go green.
I must review my finances and see if I can stretch to a second drinker. Well done and thank you Dine-a-Chook!

Excellent product. Foiled the moorhens - they can't pinch the food out of these containers. Took advice of a previous review and put in mealworms and sunflower seeds to start hens eating from them. No problem whatsoever.

Very well designed. Chickens took to it straight away and there's no spillage now.

Bought these after getting fed up of scooping wood chip and poop out of the feeder and drinkers several times a day. Have to say these are amazing, haven't had to do it once. Chickens took to them straight away. Expensive yes but to me worth every penny.
Innovative, practical and money-saving

I was looking for a feeder that would minimise the work my elderly neighbour would have to do when looking after my chickens while I was on holiday. I ordered these and they arrived within 48 hours. I was impressed with the good solid construction and they were easy to install, my only concern was getting them the right height for my chooks. However, the instructions give advice on the correct height and I got it pretty much spot on. I put some food in them and watched as my hens tried to work out what to do. Their normal pellets didn't seem to be much of an incentive so I put a handful of their favourite treat of mealworms in to each feeder and they were motivated enough to work out how to use them! Once they'd got the hang of it I put their pellets back in and was happy that each of my 9 chooks knew how to get their food. The advice about taking away all other feeders was good because it forces the hens to figure out their new feeder.
We've had some heavy rain showers and the food inside the feeders has remained dry. I can't believe how much longer my bag of pellets is lasting and was concerned that my chickens were starving! That was not the case. The reason, I'm guessing is that there is practically zero wastage and instead of feeding chickens and rats I'm now only feeding chickens! Rats are smart and I can't honestly say whether the feeders are rat-proof. However I can say that there has never been any rat poop in the new feeders (there was practically always rat poop in my old feeders) and I have never seen a rat eat from the Dine-a-Chook feeders (and used to see them eat from the old feeders). So the combination of no wastage and no rodent-feeding, is saving money on chicken food.
I'm delighted with these feeders and wish I'd bought them years ago. I can't recommend them highly enough and the customer service has been exemplary.
